Goodyear Duraplus With TredLife Technology
Release Date:2009/06/01
- Goodyear Innovation Center* Luxembourg is birthplace of the company’s new Goodyear DuraPlus passenger tire
- For just over one year, more than 100 engineers, physicists, chemical experts and tire evaluation specialists have worked extensively to develop this challenging product, providing substantial mileage increase without sacrificing the tire’s safety at a cost that is adapted to the targeted segment.
- Objectives were unambiguous: develop the ultimate tire for mileage up to 100,000 km, setting new standards in the targeted segment while maintaining our core values for product safety performance
- Every component of the tire has been aligned to meet this challenging objective. Finite Element Analysis (FEA) calculations have been used intensively to simulate the tire’s targeted performance while ensuring the durability levels expected of a long lasting product.
- The new Goodyear DuraPlus had to withstand an extensive Goodyear internal development and test marathon before it was declared suitable for mass-production.
- DuraPlus tires were tested extensively in Goodyear's internal test fleets, clocking up the required mileage to certify the longevity of the product in the most challenging road conditions of the Asia Pacific region.
- Intensive laboratory testing has been used to ensure the resistance of the rubber compound and also to lower the rolling resistance level in excess of 10% providing real financial benefits to the customer
- Ensuring the safety and performance objectives are met, the tire was tested on company tracks in Mireval, France and Colmar-Berg, Luxembourg as well as on open roads in Thailand
